University Institute for Regenerative Medicine and Oral Implantology

The University Institute for Regenerative Medicine and Oral Implantology (UIRMI) has the experience and structure of the Eduardo Anitua Foundation for Biomedical Research. It counts with more than 25 years of experience acquired in the search for excellence in teaching, research, R&D and social responsibility that, from the Foundation, now become part of the UIRMI. This objective, that of the continuous search for excellence, is a shared value with the University of the Basque Country – UPV/EHU, which is why we understand that this proposal is perfectly suited to the strategic objectives of the University.

It is also important to highlight the eminently translational nature of the research developed by UIRMI, which seeks a rapid translation of the acquired knowledge to improve the clinical practice of health professionals, the development of new therapies or techniques and, therefore, to an improvement in the quality of life of patients.

Another of the fundamental characteristics of the research developed in our center, in addition to the translational component, is multidisciplinarity. Within our research group we have professionals dedicated to the clinical practice (dentists, oral surgeons, anesthetists, orthodontists, experts in sleep medicine, prosthetists, etc.); numerous research profiles related to the area of health sciences (such as doctors, dentists, pharmacists, biologists or biotechnologists); and we also have other groups, such as research in surface engineering and biomechanics or the research team in computer and electronic medicine, composed of engineers, physicists, computer scientists, etc.
